We love our pets, but everyone knows they'll be up to mischief the moment they get the house to themselves.

Petcube is an invention that allows owners to monitor their dog or cat at home, while they are away.

Invented by Ukraine-based developers Alex Neskin, Yaroslav Azhnyuk and Andrey Klen, the Petcube utilizes a camera and robotic laser to be operated.

Specifically, it comprises of a 10 x 10 x 10 cm box housing a wide angle camera, microphone and speaker which should be left at home. The device connects to the owner's wifi and via the Petcube mobile app, allows pet owners to comfortably keep tabs on their pets over a live video stream.

Moreover, owners get to call out to their pets through the speaker, if they want to see them virtually. On the other hand, the laser function can serve as an entertaining pointer, that lets you play with your pet while you're on-the-go.

One of the highlights of the Petcube app is that those without pets, but wish they had one, can browse public live feeds that belong to others and offer up some of their time to 'play' with other people's pets.

At the moment, Petcube is still a prototype and hopes to be fully developed for mass production with some backing from Kickstarter in the near future.

Would you use Petcube on your busy days?
